The girly take on Creep

Nice shoes, shame about the dress.

Better crush Him Indoors' hopes now while I am at it - No, dear it's not likely to stop me falling asleep on the tube again 'cause it wasn't that scary (only jumped twice and I am a scaredy cat). Anyway she falls asleep on the platform and I would never do that anyway.

Another not too brilliant idea

Buying low cut jeans when you are not pear shape as the garnment will persist in sliding down hips (or lacke thereoff).

Running up stairs while wearing said jeans compounds the error fo my ways.

The movements of legs will hasten the sliding of jeans down hips releasing quite a length at the bottom of each leg creating a trip hazard.

My head hurts.

Now where did I put my belt?

Smooth talker

Constance The Lovely Au Pair is paying us a visit. The Boy is the happiest of little boys and has been cuddling her on the sofa and has shared secret tales, jokes and she was allowed to flick through his magazine with him (a rare priviledge and the latest pick of the shelf at the newsagents this week-end was Model Railway).

When I went to pick him up from after school club The Boy exposed the full exent of his love for her.

"guess what Mummy?"

"What?"

"I have a surprise for Constance"

"what is it?"

"Well it was somebody's birthday at school and they were giving chocolate. I had mine but I persuaded them to give me another one"

Then I held back. I am not sure I want to know how he persuaded the somebody to give him anoher chocolate. Some questions are better not asked aren't they? Quick nod and hu hu.

"Well, you know how Constance really, really, likes coconut?"

"Yes"

"Well it was a lucky dip but I managed to get the coconut one, I think she'll like it".

Half-term and the living is easy

My mum has come over to whisk The Boy over th France for half-term early in the morning so the going to bed routine was slightly over extended.

I could not avoid the carrying up the stairs tonight. I keep meaning to try harder to persuade him he is getting to heavy for that (he weighed 28kg the last time he stepped on the scales so you can see why I am less and less keen to do it). The last attempts at persuading him to give up the mummy transport have been so unsuccessful I have given up for now. There is only so much rejection a girl can handle in one month.

Anyway, tonigh he asked "why do you always give me loads of kisses?".  It was a bit of a departure from his usual "how do you build a nuclear power station with a match box, a rubber band and a couple of paper clips?" type questions. I couldn't use the usual standard "I think you do it that way, but let me look it up and I'll come back to you" type answer.

Remembering a book I used to read to him when he was little I answered "because you are the most kissable cub in the world". He looked puzzled for a bit, then in a moment of recollection stood on the bed and started to rummage in his bookshelves for his copy of "A Kiss Like This".

He then offered to read it to me. He did all the actions. The story  involves a load of kissing the cub behind his prickly ears, on his small pink nose and in the middle of his big fat tummy. So I got kissed and tickled and raspberried a lot. Not sure it helped winding him down before sleep time but we both had a great time.

Now I feel a bit blue because somebody else will be kissing him good night all week.

While the child is away...

The grown ups goto the seaside.

Him Indoors was talked into going to Swanage rather than stay in and watch the rugby (cruel, cruel stroppycow). We drove to Swanage for a walk on the coastal path, sea air and fish and chips. A bit of a play in the waves was planned but the wind made me chicken out and the wetsuit stayed in the boot.

Him Indoors dissed my map reading skills for a while as he did not recognise any of the landmarks he had noticed on the AA route he had printed for me. I had to explain I was taking a different more scenic route via Sandbanks (I like the ferry). So he stopped asking "are you sure you know where you are". Well actually, he just asked slightly less often. To keep him on his toes I answered "roughly" everytime.

The weather stayed dry for the walk on the coastal path and Him Indoors enjoyed being pointed the sights. The fish and chips were as nice as I remembered. All in all a nice day, andwe only said "oh, The Boy would love this" a dozen times. A marked improvement.

Having trouble uploading the pictures tonight. Will have another go tomorrow.

To sum up yesterday

We took the alternative route and enjoyed the ferry

We took the coastal path and we knew roughly were we were at all times because I can read a map.

We got to the lighthouse

Then we went back for fish and chips with a view on the harbour just before the weather turned.

Maybe next time we'll have a stroll on the pier rather than a walk on the path

There are days when

... I feel like I am wearing an invisibility cloak or something.

Today cycling to work I was cut up by drivers not once, not twice but three times. With a particular mention for the second driver who cut me up while going uphill, thanks a bunch.

The special prize goes to the man in the white van who thought he could overtake a car and come face to face with me. It was more than just a little bit scary and honest I would have given him the finger if my hands had not been firmly gripped around the brakes.

Return journey was so calm and enjoyable in comparison.
