Funny how these things come and go
About a year ago while shopping in French suparmarket I saw a
packet of scoubidou strands. I bought them reminiscing about hours spend weaving little bits of plastic (like my mother had done before me. I showed them to The Boy in a "look what I found" excited sort of way. He looked at me with a blank look but let me show him how to make a simple 4 strand square scoubi and that was it. I had to finish it. My find was discarded. That was until scoubidous made a return to school playgrounds accross the country, suddenly they are cool again and mummy is very cool because she can show him how to do not only squares and circles but also hexagons and spirals and more. I feel some wasted hours coming my way, and the little scoubidou man I have just started could soon join my pile of unfinished objects but they are a great way to procrastinate, hum shall I carry n with the little man or should I tackle some of the ironing I have put away in the spare room? Tough call. Well the ironing can wait... |

It's always something to doooo
... on Sundays (or so goes the song). First bake a cake, let it cool and ice it (I don't normaly do icing but the wish list called for it). Second meet birthday boy Neil at the tube station to accompany him to the airport on his hunt for the scammer trip. Do loads of people watching at the arrival's area of Terminal 3 (great fun - the lady in the pink tracksuit will haunt me for a bit but it was worth it). Have a little chat with a spanish lady and show a little girl how to make scoubidous while Neil walks around checking the scammer hasn't turned up (I will put scoubidou pictures up soon). Third go and meet Geoff at work and have a piece of cake (not before Neil proudly shows it off for the camera of course). Fourth, make the security guard's day by letting him have a piece on the way out. Fith make way home. |

Kitchen cupboard madness
Him Indoors - What are you doing? Stroppycow - Putting something back in the right place Him Indoors - I thought you said the Indian spices went on the metal shelf to the left, in the blue plastic basket. Stroppycow - Yes that's where they go Him Indoors - And fenugreek leaves are for curries Stroppycow - Yes Him Indoors - So I did put it in the right place? Stroppycow - Of course not, methi is a herb, not a spice, it goes with the dried herbs on the metal shelf to the right of the cupboard. At which point long suffering Him Indoors gives up. I was not kidding when I said I am a bit obsessive about how food is to be put away and now summer is on its way I am back into control freak mode. Christine thinks I should put some pictures of a couple of shelves up. I am sure I am not the only person whose cupboards are organised according to a system. |

Girl's night out
Just back from sunny Feltham
after a night out with the girls from work, well it was the Queen's birthday today after all (and a belated birthday celebration for Alison). Started with a game of bowling where I showed off my unique talent. After scoring a masterful 45 points (quite good methinks since the ball ended in the gutter at least once every couple of shots) I was proving that that I am the best person to take if you are worried about not being up to scratch, not only am I almost guaranteed to score lower than most, I don't really mind and am genuinely happy when I manage to hit any number of pins (even 1). The girls were also very much entertained when I aimed at the pins only for the ball to slip away from my fingers and roll backwards towards them. The rest of the evning went: food, drinks, sulky waiter who huffed everytime he was told he had got the order wrong, more drinks and loads of adding up bills and counting money after I had gone all assertive over not wanting to split the bill equaly (ooops). |

Multiple choice
When I go out "into town" there are a number of ways I
can get home. South West trains + walk (or bus if i feel extremely lazy), Piccadilly line then sobering walk or more justifyable bus or even District Line to Richmond and a bus. Recently I have favoured the later option. Why? Well, the bus stop is just outside the station, the area is more welcoming at night than the other stations, better lit and generally more sallubrious. Anyway, I thought the picture says it all, even the tramps have more style in Richmond. |
