You mean it as a compliment right? Typical work conversation where somebody makes a joke about minding their language since I am in the room with the biggest laugh as he has never felt he had to reduce his usual vocabulary in front of me. He then stops and says "mind I have never heard you swear". His boss then goes "she doesn't need to, she can be just as insulting without using a single swear word. It's quite a talent, the ways she has of telling people to f*** off without saying it, one day I'll have to record it". |

Shuffle mode A couple of weeks ago my Mp3 player in random mode managed to capture the mood exactly over 8 songs (started with Sail on sailor, Caroline and The Spice of Life - please don't snigger too much at the lack of taste). It's a rare occurence given the amount of music and the variety I managed to squeeze on it and the laws of probablilty. Today it is failing miserably at picking a tune I fancy listening to. I am left with 3 options. 1) Carry on with the shuffle mode and keep pressing the skip button until something crops up on the headphones which fits. 2) Pick an album instead and play it rather than fiddle about. 3) Organise some playlists at last (though maybe not to the extent a certain person who even has playlists by key). I suspect I'll probably go for 1 being the sort of person who given a choice will let others make most of the day to day trivial decisions. Anyway, this made me wonder how difficult it would be for somebody to come up with a clever hack/feature which would be some kind of mood selector. Over time the MP3 player could start recognising the mood of the listener from which songs they decide to skip on that particular day and start adjusting the selection according to it. Just a thought really. |

While I am away enjoying the sea and my mum's cooking Peter J will be blogsitting, watering the cat and feeding the plants. Anyway, if he decides to have a party, the remote control for the stereo is the white one, the CDs are all on the shelves in the living room, the barbecue is in the shed and the booze is under the stairs.
