Voient ton triomphe et notre gloire!

Bom Bom, Bom Bom Bom Bom Bom, Bom Bom, Bom Bom Bo Bom.

Oh yes, the lovely Strops has left me to look after this place while
she swans around beaches and takes in her mothers fine
cuisine.   Now, I was going to be a regular smarty pants and
do my first entry in the French section she has, but lets face it, I
lack the intelligence to pull that one off, and so I have decided to
give this entry a bit of French flavour by listening to everyones
secret favourite national anthem, La Marsellaise, very louldy while
writing,  Msr Rouget de Lisle would be most impressed.
Anyway, back to the point, while the Strops is away, the bloggers
should play, and as she left us with some booze (its under the stairs)
and a venue, and it is after all friday, I suggest y'all grab a drink
and chill in here for the afternoon.  If you break anything, make
sure you hide it really well!

A glass of Chateauneuf anyone?

ssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh!

*finger to lips*

A naughty blog sitter may have been unable to blog all weekend, but, I
have an idea.  If I don't tell strops that I wasn't here, and you
don't tell her, then she'll never know. (See, its a flawless
plan)

I just hope no one has caused any damage in my abscence, I'll be most
dissapointed if I have to get the whole place redecorated or anything
due to debauchery of unspeakable kinds.  (Actually, I'd be quite
impressed if there had been all sorts going on, but I have to take the
moral high ground and all, being as its not my blog)

Anyway, in honor of Strops being an absolute Domestic Godess, and
putting Nigella to shame with her recipies, today I'd mainly like to be
hearing your most bizzare, yet tasty recipies or
meals?    Sweetie for the best answer...

Many thanks to PeterJ who has looked after the site very nicely in my absence and has even taken the empties to the recycle bin

The holiday pictures (minus the compromising ones of me wearing neoprene of course) are up.

Euston, we have a problem

Today is Tube Relief day.

Twenty
teams (about 60 people) are going around the underground trying to go
through all 275 stations in one day in the name of charity.

Of course there was a pre-challenge party in Amersham last night in Amersham where Neil put an end to Beard Watch under the disapproving eye of the waitress who ushered him to the beer garden.

After
a restful almost 4 hours sleep Chris Green, Phil Newson and I returned
to Amersham this morning, not so very bright eyed or bushy tailed ready
for the collective start.

Currently, I am sitting in Euston with
Catriona, Jim and Jan as part of the support team. We provide a
dropping point for messages, the all important plasters, cereal bars,
20p coins for the toilets, information from the TfL website, and of course pictures of the teams as they come through. Annie Mole is posting regular updates if you want to find out how things are going.

If
you are in the Euston Area, drop in and say hello (we are based in the
Caffe Ritazza). We will be there until about 2100ish when we will be
heading back to Upminster to meet the teams again as they make their
way to the final station of the day.

A big thank you to Him Indoors and The Boy who came to Euston just to reunite me with my laptop. Much appreciated.

Wifi is a wonderful thing indeed.

Not quite back to normality yet

First a few random observations about Thursday. Sitting about in a
station most of the day during not so very much is a lot more fun and a
lot more tiring than I imagined. I am getting too old to survive on
less than 4 hours sleep 3 days in a row and my body is punishing me for
staying up 23 and 1/2 hours in a row. The general public is extremely
uninquisitive as despite moments in Euston which would have appeared
very strange by those who witnessed them the support team had very few
people enquiring about what was going on. The 2 police officers we
spoke to were very nice, despite the John Prescott almost incident and
there was much 2 way PR. The second police officer even took a handfull
of our Red Cross leaflets to put in his office. It is quite strange
driving on an almost deserted North Circular after 2am, especially when
used to a crawling pace.

Anyway the pictures from the day are being added by those who took part on the Tube Relief Pool in Flickr so go and have a look if you have a minute.

Party time tonight so I guess I'd better start loading up on the caffeine.

Overcompensating

To make up for the amount of time
spent away from Him Indoors and The Boy this week, I have been in
domesticated mode this week-end. The Boy helped me make some pate, I
tried to get the apple and lavender jelly to set (and failed - back to
boiling more pectin tomorrow evening methinks), stitched a couple more
swimming badges to The Boy's towel and didn't raise an eyebrow as Him
Indoors filled the skip with glee.

I will probably realise in the
next few weeks that some preciously hoarded "might come in useful one
day" items have been disposed of but I have not caught up on sleep yet
so have lost the will to care much about it.
