Apparently "because it wasn't hurting any more" is not a good answer to "why did you stop taking the tablets". Ah well 1 down 17 more to go.

Why do I do this?

I blame the library of course. They have this way of displaying titles that might tempt the lazy browsers like me, those who just happen to wander through the aisle rather than look with a title or author in mind. There it was, on display "Andean Folk Knits" , calling my name. Book duly checked out. It's full of information and pretty patterns. I could just flick through it, maybe read more about alpacas , knitted coin bags and how men knit chulos using needles fashioned out of bicycle spokes to opbtain a gauge tight enough to protect from the mountain winds and then return the book to the library.

I could, only it would be sensible thing to do, I could but I don't. Instead I flick through and get to page 98 and think, "oh I keep meaning to try double knitting , this is just perfect".

Before you know it I have put the book down, rummaged through the stash to find some suitable yarn (not luxury soft yarny goodness since my stash is more "Hounslow Littlewoods closing down sale" than UK Alpaca but a sensible wool rich tumble dry 4 ply) and goggled for a set of more adequate instructions on casting on for double knitting than those in the book.

Now I am 6 rows into the project I know this will probably join the pile of UFOs, I find 1-1 ribs tedious at the best of time, this is pretty much the same (knit 1 purl 1) only with 2 thread that insist on twisting themselves for added annoyance. It is slow going and the tension is trixy.

I know I won't finish it, yet I sit down here and there adding a few stitches to the project as a delaying tactic for all things housework. Incorrigible.

I guess I'd better take the book back to the library before I start on a llama shaped bag I'll never finish.

Update: It *must* be a really boring project. I have given up already for the night and got out the rubber gloves to start the washing up.

We went on a bear hunt

The weather was kind enough to stop acting like it's November rather than July long enough to take The Boy camping in the New Forest .

I packed better than usual and remembered pretty much all the essentials and except for running out of matches by Sunday morning and forgetting to take the directions to the campsite we didn't do badly.

On the other hand I forgot to take the camera so you won't see (well some of it you could go see for yourself):

A quick personal message to Jeremy Beadle

It's OK Jeremy , you can come out from behind the bushes. The joke's not even that funny.

Oh you mean it isn't a prank? The whole office relocating over an hour away (2 trains and a bus ain't that a grand prospect, unless I choose to sit in rush hour traffic for about the same length of time) being announced a couple of weeks after being hired when I stated at the interview that the only reason I was willing to leave the job I liked for quite a bit less money was that it meant no traveling is not a joke.

Darn, and here was me hoping I would just turn round, watch you whip off your disguise and exclaim "I don't believe it". I guess you didn't think it would be very funny either.

Ah well back to the job hunting. At least the agency remembered me and it shouldn't be too much of a struggle to update the CV and I have not had a chance to clutter my desk with junk yet.

See thinking positive already*.

*Actually not half as angry as I should be I suppose. More in a Gallic shrug sort of a mood.

Love me tender...

Cooking instructions on the packet of noodles in my kitchen cupboard "stir tenderly until the cake loosens" . I guess they are very sensitive noodles.

In other news, just as my colleagues are beginning to get used to my slight oddness *coughs at the understatement* I have landed another local job so the move/relocation and dreaded return to commuting are averted for now.
