A quick personal message to Jeremy Beadle

It's OK Jeremy , you can come out from behind the bushes. The joke's not even that funny.

Oh you mean it isn't a prank? The whole office relocating over an hour away (2 trains and a bus ain't that a grand prospect, unless I choose to sit in rush hour traffic for about the same length of time) being announced a couple of weeks after being hired when I stated at the interview that the only reason I was willing to leave the job I liked for quite a bit less money was that it meant no traveling is not a joke.

Darn, and here was me hoping I would just turn round, watch you whip off your disguise and exclaim "I don't believe it". I guess you didn't think it would be very funny either.

Ah well back to the job hunting. At least the agency remembered me and it shouldn't be too much of a struggle to update the CV and I have not had a chance to clutter my desk with junk yet.

See thinking positive already*.

*Actually not half as angry as I should be I suppose. More in a Gallic shrug sort of a mood.

Strops. Commuting is a bore - how tedious for you. Good luck with the job hunt. MarkMcL.
PS thanks for the comment, an email came through but Blogger didn't add it to the post. Technology - pah!

Yeah, but you really like the new job now, right? You'll be willing to do that extra commute, right?
To be fair, the people interviewing you might not have known about the imminent office move. Or they might have known but not how soon it would be, which is usually the case, in my limited experience.
Is it too late to go back to your old job? Or did you do like I did and comprehensively burn your bridges?
Still, at least you've got your troubles with British Gas sorted.....

That's total crap. Boo on them.

Thanks for the luck, I'll probably need it.
The guys interviewing me didn't know but they did point out it was (I quote) "a bit shitty" to let them hire locals rather than tell them to fill in with temps until the move. There are 4 of us recently hired who took the poor pay because it was outweighed by the no travel part of it.
At least we are allowed (by law) to have paid time off to go to interviews. First one next week woohoo.
Dear fakir: not burnt my bridges (I liked the old job and the people there very much and it's not really my style) but the commute was draining me and the childcare issues were too bad to consider it.
As for British Gas... you more than anybody else should know it's never sorted =)
