Smooth talker

Constance The Lovely Au Pair is paying us a visit. The Boy is the happiest of little boys and has been cuddling her on the sofa and has shared secret tales, jokes and she was allowed to flick through his magazine with him (a rare priviledge and the latest pick of the shelf at the newsagents this week-end was Model Railway).

When I went to pick him up from after school club The Boy exposed the full exent of his love for her.

"guess what Mummy?"

"What?"

"I have a surprise for Constance"

"what is it?"

"Well it was somebody's birthday at school and they were giving chocolate. I had mine but I persuaded them to give me another one"

Then I held back. I am not sure I want to know how he persuaded the somebody to give him anoher chocolate. Some questions are better not asked aren't they? Quick nod and hu hu.

"Well, you know how Constance really, really, likes coconut?"

"Yes"

"Well it was a lucky dip but I managed to get the coconut one, I think she'll like it".

more than likely he'll have promised the giver that he/she 'can come to his birthday party'. That was the going rate for favours when I was at school (eek that was a few years ago now) and would be doled out whenever you needed something you didn't really deserve. The good seats at story time, that sort of thing.

You have raised your boy well - he has learned at an early age that getting chocolate for the women in his life is a good thing. Not only that, he actually knows what kind of chocolate she likes. Big bonus points! If you teach him how to cook, he'll be the catch of the century when he's older.

LP found out it was a girl's birthday so he probably gave her the puppy dog eyes.
Lisa, you know wat do do with pip so he follows in his dad's footsteps. My boy managed to get out of doing the washing up by being the more able pancake maker of his group on Sunday. And very proud he was too... way to go.
Princess, I am sure Boy Wonder knows how to sweet talk the girlies too.
