What a difference a couple of weeks make

On Monday after seeing The Hitchhiker' Guide to the Galaxy
(enjoyed the film very much - I am the human equivalent of Marvin minus
"the brain the size of a planet" of course) the weather was just
begging to be enjoyed so we went to sit by the
river with drinks in our hands in Hammersmith*. The cherry tree on the
green which would have been sporting glorious white blossom only a week
or 2 ago had a bit of a neglected look about it.

Today I swapped pedal power for a bit of walking and took another close
look at the trees which line my route to work and while most people would admit that a couple of weeks ago they would
have been worthy of hanami (have a look below and and you'll see what I mean), today they were more of a sorry sight.

Then again, on closer inspection, each brown and shrivelled bloom is
being replaced by shiny green promise of fruit. Not such a sorry sight
after all I suppose.

*By we I mean some of the usual blogging suspects -
Adrian, Pixeldiva, Chz (who unfortunately had to leave us early), Neil, Annie Mole and one of her non-blogging friends.
